I recently received a very kind message that explains how Patient Advocacy MD reached the best outcome for a patient and all the professionals involved in his care. With permission, I’ve shared this story below. — Dr. Vartorella

One Man RunningWe were on our last appeal opportunity when we engaged Patient Advocacy MD to help us.  Ryan, a young healthy person in his mid-20s, had recently suffered an unthinkable accident that resulted in a spinal cord injury.  We were totally exhausted in our fight to get Ryan’s care transitioned to a nationally known facility specializing in rehabilitation for young people.  His future mobility and emotional health depended upon it.

Georganne acted quickly.  She was holistic in her approach, engaging all of the stakeholders involved to understand Ryan’s unique circumstance, what his care team had already done, why they were recommending the transfer, and why the insurance company repeatedly denied it.  These conversations happened after normal business hours and within 24 hours of engaging with Patient Advocacy MD.

Georganne successfully set up a peer to peer phone call with a physician representing the insurance company.  She advocated for Ryan from a clinical standpoint using research and standards of care to support Ryan’s transfer.  She expedited the insurance company’s normal processes, even involving the regional CEO who reviewed the facts and circumstances and assigned a new physician to review Ryan’s case.  Within 36 hours of working with Patient Advocacy MD, Ryan was transferred.

Without their help, there is no way Ryan would have been transferred.  Instead, he would have used up his benefits in an inadequate facility.  Thankfully, Ryan was able to get the best care in the best setting.  Georganne advocated for Ryan as if he were part of her own family.  We appreciate her support and services beyond words.
